A Cupful of Craft

This winter we have launched, once again, our annual collection celebrating the humble cup.

We have invited four artists to create a series of unique cups for this collection including Fliff Carr, Michaela Gall, Lisa Sandner and Christina Serra Delmar.

THE STORY

British painter and ceramicist, Michaela Gall is one of our long time collaborators at The Shop Floor Project with past projects covering subjects from Inuits to iconic couples from history. She studied at Chelsea School of Art and L’Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris where she honed her painterly style which can be seen on her one-off ceramics pieces as well as paintings and prints. Her work has been featured in many publications from The World of Interiors to Elle Decoration.

Michaela Gall’s ‘Face Cups’ are hand thrown in her Kent studio using the tin glazed Majolica technique.

Hand thrown cups (above) with modelled details, drying out and ready for the glazes and decoration.
