Climbing Hydrangea (Original Framed Painting)

Wall Flora is a series of watercolour studies which document the varied species of plants living in and around a small piece of ancient dry stone wall.

As part of the artist's ongoing project which is focused on the 16th century house and grounds at Swarthmoor Hall, close to her studio on the Levens Estuary in Cumbria. The interior of the hall and the immediate surrounding landscape are the main focus of her exploration. These wild flowers could have taken root in the wall anytime from the early days of the Hall (there's mention of clover seed in the first account books), or they could have blown in on the wind sometime over the past four-hundred years.
