THE STORY

Maggie Robertson is an artist who dreams of the English countryside from the other side of the Atlantic ocean. Originally trained in Fine Art at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Maggie later focussed on the medium of ceramics, and in particular large hand pressed platters, as the main form of expression for her ideas.

(The Hare in Response platter fresh out of the kiln)

These beautiful platters are made from stoneware and are press-moulded into hand made moulds that resemble 18th century serving platters and dishes. Each one still bears the hand of the maker, deliberately leaving impressions and indentations to give the piece age and character.

There is something of a country estate kitchen feel about these pieces, and it's not surprising as Maggie gathers much of her inspiration whilst out riding her horse through the countryside.

So we see scenes of winter landscapes, hedgerows, rabbits and pigs, all rendered in Maggie's delicate brush strokes.
