Wind-Up Critter No.5

WIND UP THE PROPELLERS AND SEE HIM GO

The propeller key give this critter a 1950's racecar driver feeling. It has legs in different heights, which allows him to hop peculiarly, as if it intends to take off in a hurry. The propeller key can be wound with just one finger, turning in a circular motion, or, by using both fingers as you would normally wind up a clock.

Measures: 12 x 8 cm

WIND-UP SCULPTURES
By Brazilian designer Chico Bicalho

Each wind-up creature has a surprisingly animalistic personality. Watch as people jump back when the caterpillar crawls or the spider furiously leaps around!

Part modernist sculpture, part Heath Robinson invention, each collectable creature arrives in a box with a collectors booklet. Perfect for the Christmas table to get the hilarity started, why not have a race and see who has the fastest or slowest critter?

Chico Bicalho was born in Rio de Janeiro and studied sculpture at Rhode Island School of Design. Originally making each creature by hand, he once produced 40,000 for the Guggenheim Museum! He believes in “having a spiritual life, in freedom and in peace; supporting the theory that the earth is one living thing”.
